Fun Stuff Friday – Goonies Art, Beach Batman, Classy Superheroes And More!5
It is I, the creator of Fun Stuff Friday, back to claim what is mine! I’ve been gone a long time and much has changed in my absence. What was once a dark, craggy cavern of poorly conceived jokes and rushed writing has since been transformed into a cathedral of genuine entertainment, all thanks to the superior work of Eden and Nis. Since my leave the writing quality here has vastly improved, the jokes have become funnier and the content more interesting. But with my return I plan to undo all of that! Also I aim to cram as many Lego and Batman related items into each of these articles as I possibly can. And with that, let the dark days of Fun Stuff Friday begin once again! Muhahahaha….
Goonies Mondo Poster
The Goonies never say die!!! Sorry, got caught up in the moment there. When I was just a youngster I had only a small handful of films that I used to watch over and over again. Gremlins was one of them, the unbelievably terribly Mac And Me was another, and then there was The Goonies. A film that I regard as one of the greatest adventure films of all time. I still watch the film from time to time, and every time I do I want to be down there, exploring that cave, avoiding traps and searching for the treasure of One Eyed Willy. I realise if this dream came true I’d be the oldest member of The Goonies by far, but I don’t care, I just want to ride that crazy waterside and hang out with Sloth! My only concern would be that if I ever told someone that I was going down into a network of caves with a group of kids to search for One Eyed Willy, I’d probably be locked up…
On a different note, does anyone else think that there should be some sort of water park attraction based on The Goonies? How awesome would that be?
Oh yeah, this mondo poster is pretty cool too…

Helm’s Deep Lego Set
And for the obligatory Lego addition for Fun Stuff Friday we have this impressive diorama depicting the battle of Helm’s Deep from Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers. If you haven’t been able to tell from its frequent inclusion in these articles, I love Lego. Young or old, everybody has played with it at some point. My bedroom floor used to be covered with the little building blocks as a child, but despite my best efforts all I could ever create with it was tall walls or featureless buildings. Thus my dreams of one day becoming an architect were quickly abandoned. I really wasn’t a very talented child…
This epic recreation was created by Daniel Z. Here’s what he has to say about his work:
I built this model as a promotional display for a store in Oslo. If you live nearby or visit Oslo you should check it out! The store is called outland and is located next to the main street of Oslo. This is also probably the last MOC you’ll see from me the coming months. I will have little time to build and no access to my bricks.
Beach Batman
Looks like Batman is about to deliver some beach justice. There’s not really too much say here, it’s Batman, only made out of sand. Which is actually pretty sweet. I mean what’s the best thing you’ve ever made out of sand? One time I made a moat. Well, at least I called it a moat. It was really just a hole that I dug into the sand on the beach that was quickly filled in by the tide. Still, it was a pretty sweet hole. Back to sand Batman for a second, I really love how much effort somebody clearly went into making this sculpture. From the detail on his body armour to the fluttering of his cape, the attention to detail is impressive to say the least.

Movie Characters Visit NYC
Wow, that’s a nice piece of geeky fan art. Most of the characters featured here are pretty iconic, but I love that the artist managed to sneak in a They Live reference. Love that movie! I wonder if it would suck being that cab driver giving Robocop and that angry Xenomorph a lift. On one hand you get to drive Robobcop around, which is awesome in itself, but as an added bonus I have a feeling he would be a great tipper. He just seems like a standup guy. But on the other hand you have an Alien in the back seat trying to snack on your neck. And what’s the relationship there anyway? Are Robocop and the Alien friends? That would make for an awesome odd couple TV show.
There are a ton of references hidden in this poster, some more obvious than others. The subtle King Kong Cab Company gets a nod of approval from this guy (points to self), but above all I commend the artist for adding in an S-Mart. Anyone who like Army Of Darkness is OK in my book.
This poster was created in celebration of the Crazy For Cult expo coming to New York. The show opens on August 9th. For more information visit Gallery1988
The Human Centipede Pipe
Why? Just why? I mean sure, we can all acknowledge that The Human Centipede is a brilliant landmark in filmmaking, buy why would anyone want to use this to smoke anything ever? I guess you would stand out amongst all the other suckers sporting regular pipes. But unless you really enjoy sucking smoke through someone’s butt, maybe steer clear of this novelty pipe.
Although then again, come December, this might make the perfect Christmas gift to give to the loved ones. I could only imagine the look of happiness and surprise that would spread over their faces as they proceed to unwrap this one of a kind present…

Classy Superheros
Superheroes with top hats and monocles? Why not? Maybe they’re going to the opera. Or maybe they just felt like dressing up today. Either way, Spider-Man with a moustache made me laugh out loud. That’s possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen all week.
These classy pieces of art were created by artist Lora Zombie. Also check out her here website.
Batman Action Figure Stop Motion Trailer
It’s a Batman movie using action figures. I’m down. Also big kudos for using the eerily realistic figurines here. Those things will probably haunt my dreams tonight…
This trailer was created by filmmakers Derek Kowk and Henri Wong
The Wire Goes Lego
I haven’t delved into The Wire yet, so I have to admit that I only watched half of this clip. It appears that this is a retelling of the second season of the show, only in Lego form. An alteration which automatically makes it better.
This humorous Lego mashups was created by the guys over at Sketchy

Calvin & Hobbes being awesome as usual! They always did have good taste. Plus I don’t think Robocop would be a good tipper. In fact, I don’t think he’d pay at all. Where would he keep his wallet?? Also, that Batman clip is INSANE. And any post that includes Goonies is OK in my book

Calvin & Hobbes is – simply put – the best comic ever. BAR NONE. And as a massive fan of “The Wire” The lego thing was insanely awesome and hillarious.

OBJECTION!!! I’m afraid you’re all forgetting that Robocop is in New York, and in ‘merica they drive on the wrong side of the road. so Robocop IS the cab driver. which means he’d GET good tips. because no one wants to screw over Robocop. Case closed.

Robocop was set in Detroit. I’m guessing its an homage to the original 1987 poster.
Anyway forget that, people should be RAGING over the shitty new design concept for him.

Been a while since I’ve posted here.. but couldn’t go past the Human Centipede pipe – call me crazy, perhaps even a little perverted – but I can’t wait to wrap my lips around that.. yup.
