One can only assume the show will be picked up instantly, especially with Murphy involved. Having Shawn Ryan on board couldn’t hurt proceedings. Ryan created the magnificent TV series, The Shield. I certainly hope they are looking at having the show picked up by a cable network where they would be free to feature similar language as the films, and that could very well be FX, the same network that featured The Shield.
Here’s what Eddie Murphy told Rolling Stone last year:
What I’m trying to do now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I’d do the pilot, show up here and there. None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force the premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn’t be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong.
So it seems we won’t be getting the movie, but this is much better!
